ART137 - Ancient to Gothic - Amelia Poletti Joyce: Library Services

Course Reserves

The Lewis Library provides a Course Reserves service to support instructional programs at NCCC. Faculty may place high demand class related materials on reserve with restricted loan periods. These materials may include:

  • Lewis Library books
  • Personal copy books
  • Lewis Library owned media materials such as VHS tapes, CDs and DVDs
  • Personal copy media materials such as VHS tapes, CDs and DVDs
  • Photocopies of documents such as articles, sample exams, readings, lecture notes, etc.

All reserve items are available in the Reserve room, G-201.

As a student, the college deposits $40 on your ID card per semester for printing costs. You may use this money to pay for printing in the Library or any of the computer labs throughout the college. Additional money may be added to your account if you use your allotted amount before the end of the semester. The computers default to the black and white printers, but for a slightly higher fee, you may print in color.

Copy Machine & Scanner

There is a copy machine in G201 which may be used by students. The cost of a single sided copy is $.15 per page.

There is also a scanner available in G201.  You may use your printing credit with the scanner.

Though the Library is not able to hand out supplies freely, we have placed staplers, hole punchers, scrap paper and pencils in several places for your use.

Study Rooms

Available in the Library, on the third and fourth floors, are a number of study rooms, maintained for group study. All the study rooms are equipped with media equipment which allows groups to view videos or DVDs together. Study room keys may be signed out by groups of at least two people at the Reserves Desk for a period of two hours. At least one of the group members must remain in the room at all times for security purposes.

The Library also maintains a Quiet Study room for individuals who are not part of a group study. The room accommodates up to eight individuals at any time, who all agree to maintain slience while studying and not engage in any activity which would disturb others in the room.

Lost & Found

Any items turned into the Library staff, or found in the Library by the staff will be kept at the Circulation Desk, with the exception of wallets, which will be sent to the Security office.
