Circulation Services: InterLibrary Loan

The Circulation Dept. includes Reserves, Interlibrary Loan, Laptop, MacBook, iPad and Kindle signout and study room keys

The library uses the ILLiad system to process ILL requests from students and faculty. The process is an automated one, and begins with a link from the Library's home page. There is a registration process for first time users which creates an account that may be used for all future requests.

Requesting ILL Items

In the course of your research, when you discover that the Lewis Library does not have a particular book, article, etc. that you need for your project, most times we can get the needed item for you, within a short period of time. Depending on the type of source requested, an article may appear in your email within a day or two, or a book may be shipped to the library by a special delivery service for you to pick up here.

In order to place a request for an item, some bibliographic information is necessary to help us find the correct item. Needed for the process to begin are the following bits of information:

  • Title of the Book or Journal
  • Author of the Book or Journal article
  • Name of the article, if from a journal or periodical, along with volume number, issue and date; OR
  • Publisher and date of publication of the book
  • Source of reference for this request - In other words, how did you find out about the item you are requesting? This is an important piece of information which the library will use for verification
