Welcome to the Henrietta G. Lewis Library at SUNY Niagara

Library Instruction

The librarians at NCCC offer practical assistance to students, which will help them master research, critical thinking, and problem solving skills that will enrich every aspect of their lives. We provide access to the entire SUNY system's libraries, and to streaming video and online databases.

We offer instruction to individuals or groups upon request by any faculty member. We can teach in your classroom, the library classroom, through zoom, or asynchronous methods such as video tutorials and library guides.

We offer mini-instruction sessions on a particular database or citation style, or we can teach for a full class session. We can embed in your Brightspace course for a supportive, more interactive experience for students.

Best Practices for Faculty

  • Instruction works best when paired with an assignment since the students have a vested interest.
  • Please send us your research assignments. Librarians at NCCC tailor instruction to the specific course assignments of your class.
  • We are happy to help you incorporate library research into your assignments.
  • Book early in the semester to guarantee your preferred dates and times.
  • Please give us at least 2 weeks’ notice before scheduling an instruction session.
  • Library guides can be incorporated into your Brightspace classes.
