A Pharmacy Technician is the assistant to the Pharmacist in a variety of settings including Retail Pharmacy, Hospital Pharmacy, the Insurance Industry, and the Pharmaceutical Sales industry. Offshoots include working with Electronic Medical Records and IT opportunities within large hospital organizations. It is the job of the pharmacy technician to ensure the pharmacy operates efficiently and safely. 72 Hours of Instruction.

American Association of Pharmacy Technicians (AAPT)
Provides leadership and represents the interests of its members to the public as well as health care organizations, promotes safe and cost effective dispensing, distribution and use of medications, and provides continuing education programs and services to help technicians update their skills.
American Society of Health-System Pharmacists
represents pharmacists who serve as patient care providers in acute and ambulatory settings and aims to improve medication use and enhance patient safety.
