Books: Most circulating books in the Library circulate for a period of 28 days. They may be renewed one time for an additional loan period. The exception to the 28 day loan is childrens' books, which circulate for 7 days. Reference books do not circulate, but with special permission of the Reference Librarian may be taken out of the library to use during a class presentation.
Periodicals: Current periodicals, in the temporary setup in G building, are located in several areas. The most heavily used current periodicals, and some full runs of other titles are located on the East wall in G-209. (That will be to the left as you enter the room). Other titles are still available for student use, but will require a library staff member's help to access. When in doubt, please ask a staff member or a librarian, and we will help you get what you need.
Laptops & iPads: The Library offers 15 laptops and 5 MacBooks for student use within the library. These items may be borrowed for a period of 2 hours, and must be used within the library. In order to use one of these items, you must have a current NCCC ID and a second form of ID, such as a driver's license. These IDs will be kept at the desk until the item is returned. We also have 15 iPads which may be checked out for one week, and may be renewed if no one is waiting for them.
Media: The Library has an ever increasing collection of CDs and DVDs, both instructional and recreational. These may be borrowed for a period of 7 days. All types of Media are located in the G-209, and should be brought to the circulation desk for checkout. We also offer audio books on DVD, and we welcome suggestions of new titles for purchase.
Equipment: The library houses digital cameras, camcorders, recorders, Kindles, headphones and calculators that circulate. The Digital cameras and recorders may be borrowed for 3 days. Kindles circulate for a 7 day loan period, and calculators may circulate for a 2 hour class period. These items are presently found in the Reserve room, G-201.
The Circulation Desk is the first point of library contact for many NCCC students. It is located on the 2nd floor of G Bldg., in room G-209. This is the place where materials are checked out, renewed and returned. In order to check out a book as a student, you will need a valid NCCC ID card, issued in the Security Office. Special Community Borrower cards are issued to members of the local community who wish to use the collection and circulate a limited type and number of books.
