Books: Most circulating books in the Library circulate for a period of 28 days. They may be renewed one time for an additional loan period. The exception to the 28 day loan are childrens' books, which circulate for 7 days. Reference books do not circulate, but with special permission of the Reference Librarian may be taken out of the library to use during a class presentation.
Periodicals: Periodicals are located on the 4th floor of the library. Current issues of our most popular titles are on display near the Circulation Desk.
Laptops: The Library offers 15 laptops and 5 MacBooks for student use within the library. These items may be borrowed for a period of 2 hours, and must be used within the library. In order to use one of these items, you must have a current SUNY Niagara ID and a second form of ID, such as a driver's license. These IDs will be kept at the desk until the item is returned.
Media: The Library has an ever increasing collection of CDs and DVDs, both instructional and recreational. These may be borrowed for a period of 7 days. CDs and audio books are located on the third floor, and DVDs are on the fourth floor. They should be brought to the circulation desk for checkout.
Equipment: The library houses digital cameras, camcorders, recorders, Kindles, headphones and calculators that circulate. The Digital cameras and recorders may be borrowed for 3 days. Kindles circulate for a 7 day loan period, and calculators may circulate for a 2 hour class period. These items are presently found at the circulation/reserve desk.
The Circulation Desk is the first point of library contact for many SUNY Niagara students. It is located on the 2nd floor of D Building. This is the place where materials are checked out, renewed, and returned. In order to check out a book as a student, you will need a valid SUNY Niagara ID card, issued in the Security Office. Special Community Borrower cards are issued to members of the local community who wish to use the collection and circulate a limited type and number of books.
Call the Circulation Dept. at 716-614-6783 or email circulation@niagaracc.suny.edu.
We are a WNYLRC AcademicShare library. Therefore, AcademicSHARE Member libraries agree to allow on-site access and lend materials to any current college student, staff, and/or faculty member from another WNYLRC member academic library. However, at minimum, a verifiable valid college I.D. is required. The library may choose to treat the college I.D. as confirmation the student/faculty member is in good standing. Other proof of identification or status may be required.
